Announcing a New Song Search to Celebrate the Inauguration in 2010 of the World Communion of Reformed ChurchesThe Reformed Ecumenical Council (REC, www.recweb.org) and the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC, www.warc.ch) are pleased to announce a new song search on the theme "Unity of the Spirit in the Bond of Peace" (Ephesians 4:3). This search for a new worship song is in anticipation of and to help celebrate the merger in 2010 of these two international bodies into a new "World Communion of Reformed Churches" (WCRC). Members of churches around the world belonging to REC or WARC are invited to submit entries. The song should incorporate the theme of "Unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:6). The song text may be based entirely on Scripture or have newly composed words. The music should be newly composed. Neither text nor music should be previously published. Submissions are welcome in a number of different languages; however, English should be one of the languages included for every song, either in singable form or in a translation provided of the original song text. Submissions must include the text (lyrics) and music (written notation if possible; in addition, a recording of the song is welcome). The song must be for congregational singing in worship, and should not be more than four minutes in length. The song sheet should not include the name(s) of the authors/composers of the song. Instead, please submit names, song titles, and complete contact information separately in the email or on a separate sheet of paper (including telephone and an email address). No more than three submissions will be accepted from the same person. An international team of judges will review the entries. The winning song will be published in the Worship Book and sung during the 2010 meeting of the WCRC. The winner's award will be $500 US or all-expenses-paid attendance for one person (including registration, meals, and accommodations, but not travel costs) at the meetings of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, June 18-28, 2010, to be held at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. The deadline for submissions was October 1, 2009. |
